This book re:design project of Edmonton—Portrait of a City, was not only a great opportunity to revive old literature, but also a chance to explore the past of the city I live in. I believe it is a responsibility of being a designer to convey history so it may remain clearly accessible, pertinent, and delightful. My hope is that my design can not only be a sharing of my experience but also a device that honours the history of a northern city. I also consider this student project to be a display of the design learnings I have gained over the course of my design studies here at the University of Alberta. It is an example that provides a glimpse into what design education and student practice in Edmonton, Alberta, even Canada is yielding in the year 2015.
