As a class project, senior visual communication design students were asked to devise visual identity systems for the Design Latitudes exhibition and symposium developing concepts based on the notion that “ ‘Latitude’ encompasses both geographical context as well as breadth/freedom of action or thought and ‘North’ is bordered geographically, framed in opposition, and conceptualized through a diversity of lenses, experiences and spaces.” Their work explores, reflects on and reveals aspects of and connections to what is particular to design in the north and how that might be visualized in an abstract manner.
