Dene Declaration (experimental typography)

The Dene Declaration was passed unanimously at the 2nd Joint General Assembly of the Indian Brotherhood of the Northwest Territories and the NWT Métis Association in Fort Simpson, Canada on the 19th of July, 1975. It is a statement of rights wherein the people of the Dene Nation made a demand for full recognition of their identity as a distinct and self-determining nation. Through this piece of experimental typography, these powerful and important words are communicated visually as the ‘voices of a people’, giving the words expressive power that can be seen by viewers who might not otherwise come in contact with this text.
